For the most part it’s not an issue, especially with a few small Pokémon, but if you aren’t careful, you can find yourself in situations that’ll have your heart racing. There’s also the fact that, for the first time, Pokémon will try to attack you specifically while you’re out. There’s just something about being able to sneak up on one Pokémon after another and chuck a ball against the back of their head that feels so satisfying to do and will never get old. Right after catching the first three Pokémon, I was ready for more and more in many other places. It didn’t take long at all for me to get hooked on the gameplay, though. There were a lot of fears to be had about Pokemon Legends: Arceus prior to its release, but the main one for me, personally, was that this new and innovative formula for the franchise somehow turned out not being as great as everyone wanted it to be. Good First Impressionsįirst thing I noticed from playing is that the gameplay is so fun and addicting. Also, there won’t be any major spoilers so don’t worry about that if you still want the game to be a surprise and see what’s up here. I guess the best way to do this is in a “compliment sandwich” format, where I start and end the article with good things about the game while leaving the not so good things right in the middle. I’ll just be focusing on details about the game that I noticed in my first sitting, some good and some…not so good. This isn’t a full-on review or anything, so I’m not going to go in-depth about every aspect of the game (you can definitely expect a review from the other writers soon, though). I’ve put quite a few hours into it already, so here’s what I think of the game so far. Unless you’re one of the people that were lucky enough to get it way in advance, it’s been a long wait for such an anticipated title. Whenever you’re reading this, Pokémon Legends: Arceus has finally officially released. Ps- Ozy will be covering the site for about 24 hrs, I’ll be on my 15 hr flight to the US! Only going to be there a week before I come back.Well, today’s the day…or yesterday…or the day before. I’ll admit, there are some mechanics I’m not quite sure about so on the plane ride to the US I’ll be sitting next to my bf and asking him questions so I can better understand the game. I am hoping this is translated just from my short play time because I’d love to have this Japanese-infused atmosphere in English so I can read everything in my native language. Attacks like Vinewhip hit 3 Pokémon at once potentially, while some fire attacks will hit a Pokémon that you’re a square away from. This isn’t bad actually though, it’s more about choosing what Pokemon you need to use for what situation. Once you’ve used up all your character’s turns the month passes and you may use those characters again (you may also manually skip the month, you don’t have to use all the characters up before it changes).Īs I’ve seen mentioned on Serebii, all Pokemon have just one attack.

That includes participating in a battle, going to the shop, making ponigiri, mining, etc. So each month the characters are able to do one activity. It’s also worth noting that the game works on a weird “month” system. These beginning regions have three areas, a spot to battle, a shop, and a Ponigiri stand or Mine (where you can make money). Besides fighting the nations in harder, more drawn out battles, you also have spots within the nation to battle wild Pokémon / minor Bushou and recruit them into your “army”.
#First impression pokemon series#
The game reminds me in some ways of Fire Emblem with the grid-based movement and attack system, but I read on twitter that Archaic (head of Bulbapedia) thinks it’s more like Final Fantasy Tactics, a series I’ve never had the opportunity to play. Besides the Eevee you’re assigned and the Jigglypuff your Bushou cohort uses, I’ve also come to use Masukippa and Sewaddle alot, along with Darumaka. Just wanted to tell you guys that I think (so far) it’s pretty fun 🙂īasically I’ve conquered the Fire nation, the Grass nation, and the Water nation. I’ve had Nobunaga since yesterday afternoon, but between work and packing I haven’t had all that much time to play it.
